This Associate Architect role puts you at the centre of large-scale hospital base building projects that truly make a difference. You’ll work on designs that touch people’s well-being and quality of life, bringing creative ideas and technical know-how to some of Australia’s most complex and rewarding projects.
The scale and complexity of the projects (large hospitals, mental health units, expansions, masterplans) give you the chance to work on challenging architectural problems — technical, regulatory, programmatic. That means stretching your leadership, coordination and innovation skills.
You’ll be part of a leadership team that’s collaborative and invested in staff development. There’s emphasis on exchanging ideas, learning and mentorship. That’s valuable if you want to grow, lead teams or influence design culture.
And you’ll have autonomy to run projects and make key decisions, with the support of a team that shares knowledge and drives high performance.
Lead architectural design and design coordination for hospital base building projects (structural framework, core & shell, services integration) ensuring functional efficiency, safety and compliance with health facility standards.
Oversee the full lifecycle: concept design, schematic design, design development, documentation, construction administration and post-occupancy review.
Manage large, multidisciplinary design teams, consultant coordination and internal staff mentoring.
Provide strategic guidance to maintain design excellence, aesthetic enhancement and innovation in sustainable, evidence-based healthcare design.
Navigate complex project constraints: regulatory, structural, services, clinical workflows, budget, timeline and stakeholder expectations.
Prepare, monitor and adjust project forecasts, schedules, resource allocations and budgets; ensure risk mitigation and issue resolution.
Develop and maintain technical standards, detailed specifications and ensure coordination of construction documentation.
Collaborate closely with clients, clinical specialists, engineers, contractors and regulatory bodies.
Use design tools and technologies (Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, 3D visualisation etc.) to produce high fidelity visuals, renderings, mock-ups and support decision making.

Extensive experience working on hospital base building / healthcare facility architecture.
