Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 plus Superannuation
We are seeking experienced Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Quantity Surveyors to join leading cost consultancy and construction advisory teams across Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for providing cost management and commercial support across the full project lifecycle – from feasibility and design through to construction and final account – with a focus on MEP services in complex building and infrastructure projects.
Pre-Contract
Prepare detailed MEP cost plans, estimates, and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) at all design stages.
Conduct cost benchmarking and value engineering for MEP systems.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to prepare accurate quantities and cost data.
Support tendering processes, including bid evaluations and commercial assessments of MEP trade packages.
Post-Contract
Assess and certify progress claims, variations, and change orders for MEP works.
Monitor project expenditure against budget and prepare accurate monthly cost reports.
Liaise with contractors, consultants, and project teams to resolve commercial and contractual issues.
Assist in the negotiation of final accounts for MEP contracts.
General
Provide specialist advice on MEP procurement strategies, contractual risk, and cost optimisation.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates, MEP technologies, and industry trends in Australia.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian Standards, building codes, and client requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an MEP Quantity Surveyor (Australia or overseas).
Strong knowledge of MEP services in building and infrastructure sectors (commercial, healthcare, education, data centres, transport, etc.).
Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX) and Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with Australian Standard Method of Measurement (ASMM) and AIQS best practices.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
AIQS or RICS membership (or working towards).
Experience with BIM and digital measurement tools.
Exposure to sustainable building systems and energy-efficient MEP design.
