Estimator (D&C Fit-out)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator who knows the in's and out's of D&C tenders, across all trades.

This role is perfect for someone who can handle projects up to $5M and enjoys working closely with a committed team. The successful applicant will report directly to the Commercial Director, a leader keen to nurture and develop talent.

Duties:

  • The successful candidate will delve into project documents, deciphering requirements and understanding the project's scope.
  • They will engage in critical conversations with Senior Management and Project Managers, discussing potential risk factors of individual tenders.
  • They will assist with the tender process, all the way through to the Bid Submission.
  • The candidate will need proficiency in pricing D&C projects using rate and quantity basis, supported by subcontractor pricing.
  • Site inspections with contractors and Project Managers will form a key part of the role.
  • They will evaluate offers from sub contractors with a discerning eye.
  • The successful candidate will build and maintain relationships with key vendors.
  • They will prepare detailed Bills of Quantity (BOQ) and a subcontractor cost comparison matrix.
  • They will present cost estimates 
  • Collaboration with the delivery team to develop project proposals will be integral.

Leadership & Mentoring:

  • The successful candidate will help new delivery staff get up to speed with training and mentoring.
  • They will oversee the Project & Site Management delivery teams, ensuring smooth operations.

The successful candidate should have:

Experience:

  • Local experience in commercial fit-out, refurbishment, and construction estimating.
  • Experience in tendering projects. 
  • A track record of preparing commercial refurbishment and fit-out submissions from start to finish.

Skills & Competencies:

  • A deep understanding of estimating practices.
  • The ability to comprehend technical drawings and requirements.
  • A network of connections with local suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • The skill to prepare engaging and persuasive presentations.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed and informative reports on costing data.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a dedication to exceptional customer service.
  • The ability to stay organized and maintain composure under pressure.
